Facilities.
Q1 Is there going to be a swimming pool?
A1 Unfortunately not; but there will be a 6 badminton court sports hall, gym and fitness suite and an outdoor multi-use games area, so all your other sporting ambitions will be very well served.
Q2 I'm a student and will probably be coming to One but I want to do Media Studies and wondered what computer and design facilities will be available?
A2 Media is a popular choice and we offer AS/A levels and Diploma courses in Media and Creative as well as Design Tech and IT. The ICT planning for Suffolk One is underway and over the next year or so we'll be specifying and purchasing everything you'll need to succeed.
Q3 Will I have access to computers?
A3 There will be easy access to the very best machines. In the first year, it is planned to have over 1000 machines within the building. The network will support both Windows and Mac.
Q4
Will I get a Suffolk One email account?
A4 Yes
Q5
Will I be able to log-on to the Suffolk One Network at home?
A5 Yes you'll be able to see all the applications and your own files at home using a 'Remote Desktop'
Q6
Can I get food and drink at Suffolk One?
A6 Yes. We will have our own Café. It will serve breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks (and even stationary too). You can get a Latte anytime.
Q7
Can I bring my own food and drink?
A7 Absolutely – and there will be spacious places to sit with your friends, both inside and outside the building.
Q8 Will I need special materials or kit for some subjects?
A8 Yes – but we will provide you with information in plenty of time.
Q9
Will I have a tutor?
A9 Yes – every student will have a Personal Progress Tutor, who will have overview of your academic progress and to make sure you are alright and enjoying Suffolk One. They will be very accessible and approachable.
Q10 Will there be any trips or visits in the first year at Suffolk One?
A10 Yes, we will give you advanced notice.
Q11
Will Suffolk One be 'green' - will you be recycling paper and plastics?
A11 Yes. As you'd expect from a modern centre in a very modern building we will approach sustainability and the enhancement of our environment very passionately. As with teaching and learning, it will be one of the very many areas where we will want students to take a leading role in helping us do the right thing and to keep on doing so.
